“We purchased this unit for our relatively damp basement. The pump was the primary selling point as our last unit was gravity fed and had to be elevated off the ground in order to drain into the laundry tub. We’ve been running it for over a month with good results and the pump works well. Another reviewer commented on how the unit heated up his/her basement, but this has not been our experience. “We bought this unit to replace a 25-year-old unit that seemed to have stopped working effectively. The DeLonghi is much more efficient than our old unit at controlling humidity precisely, since the desired humidity level can be specified numerically. The pump feature allows one to leave the unit on the floor, where it is most needed, and conveniently move condensate from the reservoir to a drainage point (in our case a utility sink a few feet higher). This feature eliminates the need to empty the tank ever. In addition, this unit is lighter, quieter, and more attractive than our old unit. Our basement has never smelled better and we are much less concerned about mold and mildew. Since it is relatively new we are not sure how it will stand up over time, though it seems sturdy enough. Our first impression, however, is overwhelmingly positive.”
“We put this dehumidifier in our basement because we were having some moisture issues and mold was becoming a little too prevalent. When we first put it in the basement the humidity was around 75% according to the unit. The instructions were simple and we decided to use the pump to move the water into a utility sink and it worked right off the bat. After about 3 or 4 days of running continuously, it had the humidity down to 45% and it’s been holding steady every since. At some point we unplugged it and forget to set it to “pump” and it filled up the drawer and shut itself off. It must have been off for a few days and the humidity went up to about 65%. I emptied the drawer and turned the pump back on and in a few days it was back down to 45%. All I can say is it works fabulously and it’s pretty quiet. I love that it has a pump so it’s basically self-sufficient.”
